I first opened New Verse's doors in 2004, with the goal of providing a quality and depth of guitar & bass training previously inaccessible to the average Portlander. The studio has since grown into a local institution, as I continue to refine and improve my approach year after year.

 

I hold a Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, in classical guitar & composition, and I've been a full-time teacher and musician for most of my adult life. In addition to teaching, I maintain a busy schedule as a solo guitarist, band member, and youtuber.​

Through learning and analyzing songs of your choosing, coupled with targeted exercises developed and honed over my 20+ years of teaching, your lessons will cover technique, theory, and the concept & application of deliberate practice. Lessons are positive, structured, and open to all skill levels.
